Petroleum
Argus has covered petroleum markets since it was founded in 1970. Argus provides a wide range of services for the oil industry including daily international crude and product prices, intelligent analysis and fundamental data on supply and demand, stock levels and logistical information.
Many Argus price assessments are used in physical and derivative contracts, for mark-to-market purposes, in risk management, for strategic planning and by governments and tax authorities for independent valuation of energy supplies.
Argus petroleum benchmarks include:
- The ASCITM price (Argus Sour Crude IndexTM) - used for sour crude exports from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Iraq into the US.
- ESPO Blend– The Argus East-Siberia Pacific Ocean assessment is used in long term contract prices for Russian crude moving to northeast China.
- Euro-Bob – This assessment is the standard industry benchmark for the European gasoline market.
